The Story Behind the Word
The Hebrew word חֶסֶד (Chesed) is one of the most beautiful and untranslatable words in the Bible. It is variously rendered as steadfast love, lovingkindness, mercy, loyalty, and covenant faithfulness. Chesed is the love that does not give up — the love that pursues, that remains, that endures. It is the word used 26 times in Psalm 136, where every verse ends with the refrain: His Chesed endures forever. This stone coaster brings that word into your home. Every time you reach for your cup, you are reminded that the love of God is not fragile or conditional — it is Chesed, and it endures forever.
